Murray Hay – October 1931-October 2015
Self taught artist. He was a commercial artist in Calgary using the name; Murray Creative. Pre computer graphics, he painted logos and brochures for local businesses. In 1976, his life’s work changed as he began to paint ski area maps first for Lake Louise, then the Big 3 and Sunshine Village. As he learned, he developed and perfected his method to paint accurate and beautiful paintings. He painted most of the areas in Canada, some in the US, Japan and South Korea. His work was featured a lot in Equinox Magazine and Readers Digest. Along the way, he had some pretty wonderful adventures and stories. This website will attempt to share some of those stories and of course his paintings.
