This website is dedicated to the memory and talent of Calgary artist Murray Hay. For anyone who skied pretty much anywhere in Canada from 1976 through to 2003, you’ve seen his work.
Murray Hay is the artist who pioneered and perfected his craft of painting ski areas. He was a fabulous artist, but not the best at keeping notes. As well known as his work is, it’s also a bit of a mystery. He worked without computers, pre-internet.
All of his paintings and the overlays are hand crafted. I’ve had so many people approach me with kind words and questions about him and his work. I thought I would try to share his story and try to share as many of his paintings as I could.
This won’t be a “slick” website. Sometimes I’ll call him Murray Hay, sometimes it will be Dad. Frankly, I have no idea where this will go or if anyone will follow along. That’s okay too. That’s sort of how Dad rolled.
