Murray Hay was an excellent artist, but business man? Dad did work in an office for awhile. He worked in a print shop. He didn’t like it. He was an artist through and through. He decided to work from home and be self employed. My first memories of Dad’s work was confusing. His business was called: Murray Creative. I could not figure out why if I answered the phone during the day, I had to say; Hello. This is Murray Creative, but other times, I was to just say; “hello”. I didn’t understand why our last name changed from Hay to Creative during the day. I never asked. No one explained. Murray Creative answered the phone one day in 1976. It was Sir Rodney Touche. At the time Sir Rodney was the General Manager of Lake Louise (1972-1985). Dad had been recommended to him. Sir Rodney asked Murray Hay; would you like to paint a ski map for Lake Louise? Dad replied; Sure! What’s a ski map? In that one phone call, Murray Creative became Murray Hay.
